There is no database in France, at least not one available to the larger research community, containing longitudinal studies of children with aligned-transcription video. We would like to contribute our energy to building up such a database and hope that other research groups will join forces with us.

Monolingual children are filmed once or twice a month depending on their age.

Bilingual children are filmed each month: once with their mother (language a), once with their father (language b), and once with the whole family (languages a and b)

A filmmaker will be present at several recording sessions and put together a training session for the researchers. He will also be working regularly with a researcher filming one of the children, in order to collect sufficiently rich video material to make a documentary on language acquisition.

b) Studying how children’s grammatical tools emerge and function
